    ECE Bow saw owners ?

I am also a owner of the ece bow saw...I wanted to try a "classic" european saw. This saw is very aggressive and it's very difficult ( for me ) to start the cut. Of course I have the same problems...It's very hard for me to evaluate the state of the saw and my technique. Practice is the only way...

cutting the waste part .newbie question

Many comments! cool and tky again! Actually I start bevel down for choping ( the chisel has less tendency to plunge into the wood in my experience) then I go bevel up for paring. Another thing is the fact that I currently prefer to work with the piece laying on his edge for shoping... :roll...

cutting the waste part .newbie question

Tky guys, You cut directly in the knife line with the saw...Not easy ( I have never used a bench hook though ). Not safer to draw another knife line really near the final one and finish with paring the end grain?

UPDATE & GLOAT - Bevel-up Smoother or Scraping Plane or.

You are talking about the 50 degrees iron ( its the only one which is straight but skewed a little bit ). With or without the use of the lateral adjuster I think it's almost impossible to get a "strictly" perpendicular ( to the length of the plane) cutting edge and maintain that position while...

UPDATE & GLOAT - Bevel-up Smoother or Scraping Plane or.

Hi David, taking any decision is really hard when you start.Rubbing my planes on sandpaper was a hard one...trust what you see is difficult too... Should I deal with the squareness of my blades first ( it looks like there's not too much work) ? I know that your advice is to stop the grinding...

UPDATE & GLOAT - Bevel-up Smoother or Scraping Plane or.

Dont get me wrong I love my planes ( all veritas btw ) and I can get really good results ( for a complete newbie in this field...) . It's just recently that I have had some hard time with a piece of rosewood. The fact is that I have discover that they were not perfect ou of the box...but very...

UPDATE & GLOAT - Bevel-up Smoother or Scraping Plane or.

I am just using a cerax combination waterstone (1000/6000) and the mkII honing guide nothing else on those blades. I have tryed to compensate for the bevel problem (on the LAJ54) with fingers pressure without success. I think I will try to regrind the skewed blade on a coarse sand paper. I...
