    New Garage roof options

Hi All, Been off the forum for a few years with work commitments, but happy to say that I've recently moved to a new house with a modest lean-to garage to use as a workshop. Currently the main barrier for me is that It's covered with a failing asbestos cement roof. I'd like to insulate it...

Union Jubilee 440 v Motor Lathe

+1 for the invertek optidrive system. I used this for my lathe with a 1.5hp motor and it's spot on!

    Source for large turning blanks?

Hi Folks, Its been a while since I last posted, however i have been fortunate enough to receive a commission for a sycamore bowl measuring 13" by 5". The diameter is very easy to find from hardwood retailers however the depth is very difficult to come across. Does anyone have a 'guy' or other...

    new lathe time this year

Hello all, to the OP: are you desperate to have a bed attachment for outboard turning? what about a standalone rest? I totally understand the limitations of this but it does open your choice up to all of the lathes in your price range that don't have a side mounting bed extension. JD

    Wadkin MF restoration

i get so excited when i see these WIPs! what a talent. If i may ask - why would you have a chisel AND chain morticer? what can one do that the other can't??

    Nova DVR 3000 cutting out

Thats some terrible luck! any word from the person you bought it from? seems very coincidental to have an issue pop up just after purchasing it! if no-one is offering you any assistance, personally i would take the thing as far apart as possible and check and double check each component along...

Post a photo of the last thing you turned (!)

My first ever segmented piece - for the Mrs' (last name Fischer) bloody hard work but very rewarding result! American black walnut and Hard maple.

    RP CL4 or Coronet Herald

If you have £1000 to spend i would seriously recommend buying used - plenty of monstrous graduates with VFD conversions are on the market for this value. The two lathes you mentioned come nowhere near the capacity of a graduate or viceroy bowl lathe and the build quality won't be the same...

You can stick your Katsu Router...

seems like all these shopmade tools are powered by drills not independent motors - impressive manipulation of a tight budget

    New combi square

I think 'waste' is a bit harsh. Having said that, yes i do think there is a collector aspect to this - as i am not gifted with anywhere near good skills i probably am just pandering to the part of me that likes expensive stuff. My last one was a stanley and bang on. May i ask how you checked...

    New combi square

Hello Everyone, happy new year! I think its high time i invested in a good combi- square. Not after the multitude of attachments as i doubt ill use them. Just a nice quality 12" blade and head would be perfect. I'm a big fan of investing in quality when you have the funds so id be happy to go...
