    pen kits

£7 is definitely a good starting point. I started on the £2-3 kits. Pens were the first thing I turned so starting cheap was wise. The good thing about pens is if you mess up you can always order a new tube or turn the wood, acrylic and glue off the tube and re use it. All you lose is some...

    Axminster Tools Problem

Definitely, it’s Axminster’s responsibility. I’d also agree with power tools, I’ve usually had decent service from Axminster but during these times, I had an issue with an order and the CS wasn’t great.

    pen kits

Can’t speak for other suppliers, but the cheap axminster kits aren’t great. I haven’t tried any of the more expensive kits at the moment. The most expensive I think I’ve made were the. Scribe (which is available from other places but named differently) and the Rollester. I really enjoyed making...

I think I have made a terrifying mistake...

Christ..you’ve got more patience than me. I live quite near Scan computers, so I used to build my own pcs. They have a great returns policy so if I ever encountered a compatibility problem or a faulty product, it was a short drive to sort it. I haven’t owned a pc since 2008, sold it to get a...

Tool storage - chest or box

I’ve always stored my site tools in plastic (usually wheeled) boxes in a rather unorganised way. The only precaution I take is to protect edged tools ( chisels, planes, saws, etc) My home workshop tools are currently on a tool wall but I’m planning a refurb and want to store them in a box or...

I think I have made a terrifying mistake...

Being a long time Minecraft fan, and an even longer Diablo fan. It didn’t take much persuasion for me to join my young nephews on Minecraft Dungeons. It’s very simplistic in gameplay but good fun. Tbh, the main appeal is spending time, albeit virtual, with the boys.

Don't put your tractors in a line.

:D My dad still has a makita 3600 which he bought new. He can’t remember when he bought it, but he recalls I was very young at the time. So it’s proper old then :| According to him, the only thing that’s been changed is the collet. I’d probably agree as it’s not the nicest router to use but...

Don't put your tractors in a line.

You can never have too many routers. Having said that, I am considering selling my latest purchase as I use the other 5 :| more often. Nice to see a 3612 there, got 3 of those. I did have the 1/4” version of that Elu. Early 90s, made in Italy..probably the nicest router I’ve owned. I still...

    Tailstock 'chuck'

I do something similar for a press. At the headstock, I either screw a scrap piece onto a faceplate or a wooden disc in a Chuck. At the tail stock, a £5 stub arbor with a wooden cap on the end.

    A new YouTube channel

Thoroughly agree. If you don’t like unboxing videos (or any video) don’t watch it :| I don’t understand the negativity. I wish I had the self confidence to stand in front of a camera and make YouTube videos.
