Hi everyone,
I would just like to introduce myself and let you know what I’m about etc…

My old company J Balanda Joinery & Construction used to plan, design, build, and interior design private homes, loft conversions and extensions. I was very lucky as we were in business for over 30 years and through dedication we garnered a very good reputation.
I was rushed into hospital for the third time after being sent home and told there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. I won’t drag this part out but I found myself in a coma on life support in the Christie hospital in Manchester for 3 months and everyone, my wife,3 kids and mother were told to say their goodbyes.
I obviously survived but in a terrible and life changing way.
I was left bedridden and on extremely high levels of opiates.
I obviously couldn’t carry on my business, however I did try to do this from my bed, but it was impossible
I had to find a new way to support my family from my bed! However this wasn’t going to be easy. I learned how to build websites and with the gods looking down and some luck this slowly took off, including my own artwork and we found we ended up with a very nice art studio ( The Canvas Art Studio)
I am now able, with great difficulty to stand for a little while and use my wheelchair.

MY CARPENTRY

Recently I found that I missed my carpentry so much that I needed to do something about it. So I am in the process of setting up a small workshop for disabled people so they can learn and develop new skills and maybe sell some items to help supplement their income.
Hopefully a YouTube workshop channel as well but we shall see…. I might be biting off more than I can chew!
Anyway, I am funding all this myself and I’m obviously not made of money, so I am having to buy mostly used equipment although I have bought some really nice new stuff as well, ie: planer thicknesser, table saw and a few other things but it’s expensive as well you all know!
Now I’m/ we are not looking for charity but I am always looking for stuff, so please keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you see anything.
Well that’s it really, albeit a very abridged version anyway. I am looking forward to being on the forum. I don’t profess to know everything about carpentry and construction, however I think I do have some knowledge that may be helpful to some people. So please feel free to contact me anytime.

kindest regards,
Joe
