    Planing, do you use pushbocks?

I use a hand made push block, shaped a bit like a hand plane with a long notch, only for small skinny bits up against the fence with JUST the necessary amount of knife exposed ...tho 98% of the time I use those £1 orange grippy gloves...available from most sheds and pound shops. Jim

Arched top door - what do you call this joint?

First thing that came to mind was a 'Gun Stock Mortice & Tenon', if that helps in your research. Jim

Hide a Safe Behind a Picture Frame

How about using full extension Accuride style (bearing) runners? These could be set in a slight rebate to keep the frame close to the wall. If the wall was a bit lumpy, you could use a frame on top of a frame with a design detail to conceal any join. A frame with a large back bevel would best...

    SCM Si12 & Si150 Panel saws (difference?)

If there's anything to look out for (such as weak points) on an old second hand SCM I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks :)

    SCM Si12 & Si150 Panel saws (difference?)

Hi Folks, Can anyone tell me the difference between these two saws? I've been looking at both and they're selling for the same money. Cheers Jim

    Back lighting

+1 for the Tool Station LED's on 3M sticky back or clips. A point to note or look out for - and it may of been a one off batch problem - Last time I purchased some 300mm strips the heat shrink join at the LED strip to cable had been over-heated and melted the cables - easy to miss and a...

    Pivot mechanism for 'Cheval Mirror'

Thanks for the feedback guys, I hadn't considered a counter weight as an option :D To make things clearer, attached is a sketch of the original proposed design (with a fixed mirror!), it may appear a little unusual but the customer has special requirements regarding storage and the mirror is...

    Pivot mechanism for 'Cheval Mirror'

Hi Folks, I've been asked to design a 'Cheval' mirror. The customer would like to be able to adjust the pitch of the mirror. I've been Googling away but to not much joy. Can anybody kindly recommend hardware or an attractive DIY method? It would be great if I could adjust the friction as...

Where to Buy Dust Extractor hose For Sander? ( mirka)

The Mirka hose and connector is exactly the same as the Festool design (sans the green highlight on the hose) the hose is even tapered so I suspect it's made in the same factory but sold for a third of the price...an advantage over the Festool design is the rubber connector can be easily screwed...

    Alidi Laser Measure (Workzone)

Out of interest, How did they fail? I've manage to tweak the unit by opening some holes in the circuit board to slide/ move the sensors back. Cheers Jim

    Alidi Laser Measure (Workzone)

Thanks chaps, I've checked it across a couple of measures and some rules. Unfortunately it appears to be -2mm, perhaps I could crosscut it? :D Mildly irritating but the error is constant as rhossydd says, so I could live with it. I was suprised the manual has no mention of a tweak in the...

    Alidi Laser Measure (Workzone)

Picked up a laser measure the other day from Aldi, it's a nice little tool, but ... it's consistently +2mm out (manual tolerance is +/- 1.5mm). Trawled internet for an extended manual and even had a sneaky peak inside to see if I could calibrate it myself by moving the laser unit. Does anyone...
