How are you storing your tools?

I like the idea of French cleats, but I prefer something a little more flexible, ie that I can use magnets on or hang a metal hook (or ten) from etc. That led me to do some experimenting and I came up with the idea of using the "Metod" suspension rails from Ikea, which are designed to hang...

A little truth for a change.

Not a privilege? Not a society? Not democratic?

A little truth for a change.

By its very nature, Democracy is ALWAYS manipulated. Perhaps we should go back to first principles: only men (and only those men rich enough to have the spare time to attend debates and participate in voting) are franchised, while the slaves and women get on with whatever work is needed to keep...

A little truth for a change.

So presumably you also favour people being forced to pay a similar tax because the government they elected - (or perhaps simply supported in principle without voting?) - made a hash of the economy/infringed your "rights"/put up your taxes or injured/offended you in some other way? Do you...

If it were 7F they wouldn't have even got wet - the river would have frozen solid. It was actually 49F/9C..

That would be a good riposte - but only if "imponderable" meant what Mr Moore seemingly thought it did. An imponderable is something which is difficult/impossible to evaluate or assess; it has nothing to do with being able to say what the imponderable actually is or what is imponderable about...

A little truth for a change.

As far as I'm concerned, we're all missing the Big Question: if the predicted "climate catastrophe" does indeed come about, would it actually be A Bad Thing? The world population of Homo "Sapiens" is manifestly too big, and as a species our behaviour is out of control and unsupportable, so...

A little truth for a change.

Some people will believe any old junk they happen to read on the internet; a case in point is fake quotations attributed to Aristotle....

@mc281 I hate to tell you this, but it clearly isn't all Latin to you either...

    Greetings from Romania

Welcome, Brad - we're neighbours and I recognise much of what you describe - although to an even greater degree - here in Bulgaria. There are some wonderful woodworkers, and other craftsmen, here who produce miracles with kit that would be in a scrapyard in Western Europe - but sadly I am...

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

I'm sure that what you're saying makes perfect sense to you, but unfortunately it doesn't affect the reality of legal documents, or indeed of the English language. There have been countless court cases hinging on the ambiguity of unpunctuated documents, with the actual meaning being a matter of...

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

The myth is that they were REQUIRED to be, on the spurious grounds that lack of punctuation makes the intended meaning completely clear; the reality is entirely opposite - correct punctuation, and accurate drafting, are what remove all possibility of ambiguity and "interpretation"...
