    Wood ID please?

I too would certainly favour the laburnum rather than cherry or plum diagnosis

    Fresh cedar

Hi, I'm fortunate to have just picked up some smaller logs from a cedar that was felled today. I'll seal the ends of the logs, but I'm not sure how best to deal with the slice (leaning against the car in the photos), which was cut off from the side at the base of the trunk, to maximise the...

    Tailstock support?

I got a chance today to work on this - very happy with the result as although fairly basic (and the turned section is only short), it's the largest thing I've ever tried by a long way, and the first time I have tried to make an exact copy of something. Thank to everyone for their help and support!

    WiFi extenders

The BT system with one extra disc at the top of the stairs works well for us (large extended Victorian terrace with loftroom added - but still about half the size of your sprawling mansion!!). Work in the garden too. But that's with 500mb fttp. BT do sa they'll give you as many discs as you...

    Tailstock support?

This is the piece and the lathe. The faceplate fitted in the headstock is what I'll use at that end. Rummaging through my box of bits, I have three live centre cones - I've only ever used the one that's fitted in the tailstock, which is the largest. Curiously the angle of that cone widens out...

    Tailstock support?

    Ah, ok thanks!

    Tailstock support?

Thanks everyone for your advice and comments. It sounds like the best solution is to use the live center cone and drill a hole (maybe 20 mm or so) so that the cone sits in the hole to a reasonable depth. I'll post pictures later today .

    Tailstock support?

Hi, I need to turn a large piece - 145mm square and 650mm long - which is far bigger than anything I've attempted before. It weighs 9kg, so I am wondering how I should safely support it at the tailstock? The standard spinny cone presumably isn't sufficient. I am wondering about drilling a hole...

Withdrawn Lie Nielsen Bevel Edge Chisels

Hi Ian, If you do end up selling individually, could I please have first dibs on the 1" (I've already got the other sizes)? As it happens I'm likely passing near S73 around next weekend, but appreciate you may still be selling as a set at that point. All the best (another) Ian
