Hello Jepho.
I really am only just starting off so my settings are probably way off optimal. They also change with each carving at the moment. For this reason I won't detail them as I will probably cause people more problems than I resolve. I am using Estlcam and following the V1 Engineering...
Recently put together the MPCNC (Mainly printed CNC machine). My first dabble into CNC for over 30 years. Still work in progress, but I have been surprised at what I have been able to do with it so far:
I know this is an old thread, but I finally got to Shelmore timber today for the first time.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful, even though I was only purchasing a small amount.
It is a very professional setup, and the timber I purchased (ash) looks to be very good quality.
I enjoy watching this chap.
As the title of his channel suggests, he is not an expert, but learning as he goes.
His presentation I think, is very good, and he does make some nice models.
I got quite excited then... A timber supplier in Stafford :giggle:.
Then I looked at their web site: £1000 minimum order!
Looks like I will have to keep driving up to Potters in Nantwich for the small amounts I use.
I made this mechanical hacksaw last year for cutting larger lumps:
Even so, I think I would pull out the angle grinder for something like a railway line.
People are saying their stuff is expensive, but they must get through some planer blades trying to prepare old planks. They have to cover their costs. :)
If you have a 3D printer you could have a look at these: Specifications | V1 Engineering Inc
Although they are not as small as the ones you asked about, they can be scaled in size.
They are a low cost option in dabbling into the work of CNC.
I cannot vouch for the performance as I am only part...
