What's your favourite home made tool/gadget?

B&D powerfile of record spoke shave, hard choice! All my tools are rubbish as I've only made one thing. More or less made the whole thing with those 2 tools! Here's the result; http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz15 ... 3a4ed0.jpg

Some nice timber up for grabs in B'ham today!

Pm sent Richard. Took all the oak and small ash logs in timber waggon. All the elm except the slab in the pic is still on site and easily accessible. Including handable rings, trunk and the matching side of the slab pictured. It's on the grass verge between the road and side road for houses...

Some nice timber up for grabs in B'ham today!

Just dropped an Elm. Got a couple of nice slabs from the base. About 4 foot long, 5-6 inch thick. Cut through the pith. Includes the crotch and some pip. Pics below. http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz15 ... 386352.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz15 ... 2c96c6.jpg Also about to drop...

    Chainsaw Advice

Being a tree surgeon, I like my chainsaws. I have wondered why all the electric saws have been so lame when the advantages of the torque from an electric motor are so clear. Got to say, that 220 seems to be spot on! If I needed one for the op's situation then I think the 220 would be it!

Advice needed on matching up 2 curved pieces?

I did know that was coming! I even thought about cropping it out. Reason I didn't is because twilight has its uses! If she gets a new twilight, she will spend three nights watching it over and over! That means I get three nights, hassle free on the tools! I got her all the books and didn't see...

Advice needed on matching up 2 curved pieces?

Cut these two curves with a scroll saw. Need to get them perfectly fitted so I can glue then finish shaping. Any ideas please? http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz15 ... 29b362.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz15 ... ed594a.jpg http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz15 ... c6d814.jpg

    Timber Identification help

WOW! That is one beautiful Walnut blank. How on earth did you come by that? My stock, believe it or not is made from an Ash I took down a few years ago. Heavily spalted through the crotch which is in the butt of the rifle. The action sits in the straighter trunk grain which is why I'm in the...
