    Plane and Chisel Sharpening Tools

DW thankyou for your comments, most appreciated. Regarding the Trend Honing Guide, the replacement arrived this afternoon. In my view the new guide cuts to a much better standard than the old one confirming the original guide had some issues - Thank you TREND for excellent after sales service...

    Plane and Chisel Sharpening Tools

Trend have agreed to send me a replacement honing guide as they said the odd faulty one does slip through. I'll report back if the new one produced a better edge.

    Plane and Chisel Sharpening Tools

Many thanks for your comments. Regarding the Trend Honing guide it has a 2 1/2 inch long roller so should maintain a constant straight cut if slight pressure is applied to the centre of the blade or chisel. The main reason for this post was to see if anyone else used these products and had a...

    Plane and Chisel Sharpening Tools

Sorry I meant 90 degrees across the width of the tool, not the cutting angle which is 25 and 30 degrees.

    Plane and Chisel Sharpening Tools

    Combination Square Advice Please

Just received my new Stanley Rabone 1912 Combination Square, so first job was to test its accuracy with my known straight edge board. Very disappointed to find it is less accurate than my old 30 year old Stanley square made in England. Its supposed to comply with Class 1 accuracy standards -...

    Combination Square Advice Please

Once again many thanks for the helpful comments from the members of this fantastic forum. I looked at the Starrett 300mm (I need a 12 inch minimum) but could not warrant the £98 price tag, I appreciate this a very high quality tool but that price is way above my comfort zone for a combination...

    Combination Square Advice Please

Hi I've had a Stanley Combination Square for about 30 years, after reading an article on accuracy of squares I decided to check mine on a known straight edge and realised it was slightly out by about 2 - 3 mm (12 inch square) - I now use it just a depth gauge. I'm now looking to purchase a...

Many thanks guy's for the continued response to my question. As I said in my opening post I haven't bought plywood for some time so don't know the quality supplied by builders merchants etc. Just to clarify its definitely not shuttering ply, its a hard wood of some sort as each face resembles...

Should I expect Plywood To Be Flat ?

One sheet is worse than the other, if I lay it down on a flat floor the middle section is raised by about 25 - 30mm, if I push it down it springs up again. Could that curve come out if I put a weight on it.

Should I expect Plywood To Be Flat ?

I ordered two sheets of 8 x 4 Poplar 18mm Plywood from my local builders Merchant to make some cabinets for my workshop. Not having bought plywood for some time I just let the delivery driver unload them and he drove off. When I carried them to my workshop I noticed they were slightly bowed...

    Cutting 8 x 4 Plywood

Hi This is my first post on this forum as someone who has got back into woodworking after a long absence. I have a DeWalt DW1251 radial arm saw and the original MDF table has warped to the point of needing replacement. I've bought some hardwood 18mm plywood to replace the table but finding it...
