    Corian Training

Sorry, I've been working too much the last couple of days! I was thinking a maximum of four people as it may get a bit crowded otherwise. But if it turns out we're five anyway I'll get in touch. I'm talking to various people about it and it's hard to get it organised but I'll certainly let you...

    Corian Training

Ok sorry I didn't mean to cause a fight! I'm pretty sure you can buy Hanex without certification. I don't really see the problem. I don't think £600 for a full 2 day course for 6 people is expensive however you look at it! How much would you charge for your time to do something similar? I've...

    Corian Training

Would anyone in London be interested in a Corian training course? I'm planning on getting them to come to my workshop in Leytonstone for a 2 day course. It costs £600, shared between however many people want to do the course. There are two of us at the moment and they will take up to 6. Once...

Solid cabinet doors - wood movement strategy

Frame and panel isn't a "look"; it's a technique. I have this all the time with customers specifying how they want things with no idea about why things are made the way they are. Fortunately most of them listen to reason when I talk them through it. The worst are always the interior designers...

Concealed Hinges for inset face frame doors with an offset

What offset do you have? You will need an inset (cranked) hinge because the doors are inset and then you will need a deeper mounting plate for the offset depending on how big it is. You definitely won't get them in b&q . There is hardly anywhere you can walk in and buy them (unless you happen...

    Options for MDF Wardrobe doors?

Oh and re. the domino jointer, I too have a domino but wouldn't use it for frame and panel doors. Frames yes, but as you have to groove rails and stiles for the panel anyway it seems quicker just to tenon.

    Options for MDF Wardrobe doors?

I would say options 1 and 3 are both fine. Option 3, the Sharps option will be for a vinyl wrapped door and one i would use on lower budget jobs when I would make the carcasses myself and just buy the doors in. Option 1 if I am making timber or mdf doors. I too run a groove along rails and...

    Euro Hinge Drawer Runner Jigs

Actually for the hinge plates I usually make up a little template (because I always lose them again) as that is the slowest thing to mark out otherwise., but it only takes a minute to make so it's quicker than buying one in any case!

    Euro Hinge Drawer Runner Jigs

There are. Blum do them and I'm sure other manufacturers do too but you don't really need them for a one-off job. Marking and measuring is quick enough; that's what I still do anyway.

    Manual hot glue edgebander

I'm thinking of getting a manual edgebander along the lines of http://www.axminster.co.uk/griggio-manual-edgebander-prod864307/ but have never used one and have no idea whether it's something I'm going to want to use or not! I can't find anywhere to try one out though so thought I'd ask here...

    Wood prices.

Well I am trade so not sure, but I don't remember ever having to show anything to prove it. I think it's more about quantities - they'll sell me a couple of sheets occasionally but most of the time I put in orders of 500 pounds upwards so guess that keeps them happy. The prices are quite a good...

    scribing to fit conundrum

Agree the only way you can do it right is to use a template. Use two pieces of mdf/hardboard or plastic that overlap in the middle, one for the top half and one for the bottom and mark the line where they overlap,
