    Cabinet material for outdoor kitchen?

My local builder's yard has a product called EKOply for around £100 a sheet 19mm thick. It's a sheet product made from recycled plastic. It looks good, the only thing is it doesn't take glue very well and I'd like to attach an accoya face frame to the cabinets. Stick like sh*t might work...

    Cabinet material for outdoor kitchen?

Many thanks for the helpful replies. I agree with the comments on Marine ply, there is a lot of rubbish sold as Marine. Although the face of the cabinets will be in direct contact with occasional rain the carcasses will be better protected by the worktop and doors. But I think the use of exterior...

    Cabinet material for outdoor kitchen?

Thanks guys for you replies. I live on an island, Phonolic and Trespa panels are not readily available. Importing sheet goods is expensive. The builders yards here have Marine ply, would it work? Cheers Andrew

    Cabinet material for outdoor kitchen?

Hi all I need to make some cabinets for my outdoor kitchen (see attached image). The building has two walls, is open on two sides and has a roof. The cabinets would be in the area marked up. They'd be semi-sheltered most of the time but in some rainy and windy conditions, they would get a bit...

Durable clear finish for timber window?

Hi there I'm making a window for a summer house from Accoya. What is a good transparent finish I can use? I want to apply something and then forget about it for 10 years or more. Was thinking Teknos range but they all spray applied. I'll be applying with a brush. Cheers, Andrew

How to fit this to base of oak post?

I will set the holes out accurately on both sides using the metal plate as a template. I will drill one side 75mm deep, and will then drill the other side 150mm deep or all the way through to the first side. The first hole should act to steer the drill bit drilling the 2nd side towards the first...

How to fit this to base of oak post?

Hi guys I need to fit this post base to the bottom of a air dried 150mm x150mm square oak post. The post is almost square but not bang on. Sorting out the slot/mortise is easy enough but I'm not 100% sure about the 12mm holes for the stainless steel dowels. I'll mark out the hole positions on...

    Ipe table top question

Thanks for your advice. I've decided to screw. I'm desperate to make something quickly, the family is getting sick of eating outside off a sheet of plywood. It won't win any design awards but I'm not too fussed. I have Ipe outside as decking. Its still looks amazing after 8 years. It has...

    Ipe table top question

If I domino the slats into the frame of the table what would be a good width for the slats. Can I go as wide as 43mm? Cheers, Andrew

thanks recipio. Your right. I was thinking of knocking something together quickly, but I do want it to last a long time. I've seen pics of quite of lots of Ipe furniture designed like this

    Ipe table top question

Hi guys I have a few leftover lengths of Ipe decking and I'd like to make a table top from them for an outside table. The Ipe is 21mm thick and in 140mm wide pieces. I've attached a rough sketch. My plan is to rip the pieces down to make them approx 70mm wide. I'll then make a frame shown in...

Leaking timber front door - how to fix?

Thanks for all your replies. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use a flexible adhesive like Sticks Like Sh*t instead of using glazing tape? I have plenty if it but don't have glazing tape.
