    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

Sorry kev, I had to give you response a like! I really appreciate all of the information and insights everyone has offered. I'll keep you updated of how I get on, if I'm not too busy apprentice-ing!

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

That course would be absolutely perfect. Thanks again for your help. This plan is really beginning to take shape! on the subject of interviews and employers, I completely agree. I've had my fair share of rotten bosses and had a few interviews where I've walked away based on my gut feeling.

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

There's bound to be something of that kind. At the moment, I've looked into the local college but level 2 carpentry is a full time course. There's potential to do it if I work some evenings and weekends in a pub or some such. It's a pretty delicate balancing act I reckon.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Apologies, I had to smile as I scrolled down to the bottom of the picture. It's definitely something I would do

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

This might be an option. However, I would still have to work out the logistics of earning some money on the side and balancing family life too- something is likely going to be sacrificed short term though. I absolutely agree, and would without doubt be doing this. I find the craft fascinating...

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

Thanks Baldkev, much appreciated. I have a draft email sat ready that I've reread a couple of times now. I think I'll do a final draft before sending it.

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

I thought as much to be honest. Just trying my luck I suppose! Fortunately, my family and I would be fine on minimum wage for a while. I was lucky enough to get a pay out on life Insurance, meaning we no longer have a mortgage to pay (massive relief). This is what has given me the opportunity...

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

I've recently been given the best opportunity I will likely ever get to retrain into something I would much rather be doing with my life. At 30 years old I have been working in pubs and fell into the social care sector, currently working for the local authority. The job isn't terrible but I'm...

    English Workbench

Looks like a cracking start - I completely empathise with the limited time. 3 year old and 7 week old over here. Looking forward to the updates!

What woodworking did you do today?

Not today unfortunately but yesterday, I picked up several old joists from a house renovation which will be going toward my first workbench build. I've got to go back to the place and pick up a couple more lengths to make sure I have enough for the top and legs. There's a lot of denailing to do...

    Starting my first tool restoration

Thanks for the advice john, I expect I won't get chance to have a go at sorting the abutments out before the weekend. I forgot to talk about the wedge, which was almost perfect, the only thing that was really quite difficult was initially removing the iron and cap from the throat. I think the...

    Starting my first tool restoration

Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures before I started - probably due to my childlike excitement. However! Today I started working on my first Fore plane restoration. I offered £6 to the seller on ebay and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect. But they accepted and less than a week later...

    Hello from Pershore

Hello and welcome! I'm also rather new to the forum. Pershore is a lovely place, I lived in Evesham several years ago and spent a lot of time over at the park with friends.

    Childrens Play Centre Build Thread

This is fantastic! I would certainly be giving this a go if I had the space in the garden. Unfortunately, it's just not big enough for all of the things we want to fill it with (a work shed being one of them!)

    YouTube addiction and frustration

I always enjoy finding the ones that don't have any sponsorship. It's almost like the ones that have a sponsorship are tainted! I do like the wood whisperer to be fair, even more now that his Sponsorship with Powermatic has ended! Lincoln Street Woodworks is a guy I enjoy watching as well. His...
