Aldi bandsaw - got a dodgy one or are they all poo?

Just to give an update. Thanks for everyone who suggested the tuff saws blade - I bought one, and that plus follow the snoodgrass guide has made it work acceptably. Probably 1/2mm - 3/4mm accuracy - not perfect but good enough for 150 quid. I did find i can't square the table to the blade...

Thanks all - have ordered the tuff saws blade. Will see if that helps, otherwise back to the store with it!

just the one in the box.... as i say, i've never had a bandsaw before so i just tensioned it until it didn't move move than about 5mm when i poke it. I see Peter Millard suggests a 1/2" blade - is that what you tried?

is a new blade likely to change much? the existing blade seems pretty sharp. What size would you suggest?

Aldi bandsaw - got a dodgy one or are they all poo?

Having seen lots of good reviews for the aldi 10" bandsaw online, I purchased one. I've just spent a very frustrating afternoon trying to get it to cut straight - this is my first bandsaw so I assume i'm doing something wrong, as lots of people seem to get good results with them. The basic...

    Shed / workshop cladding

Sounds like OSB is the strongest solution. Guess i'll need to suck up the cost - no point in cutting corners. Noted on battons, weatherproof membrane, etc. This was in the plan so good to hear confirmation. Thanks all.

    Shed / workshop cladding

Do you mean breathable membrane over OSB? or just breatherable membrane over the stud work? Will check out henshaw timber. Not keen on the look of steel (and more importantly, my wife certainly wouldn't be!)

    Shed / workshop cladding

Hi all, In the (very) slow process of building a new shed / garden workshop at my new house. It's 3.6 x 3m on screw foundations. At the moment the frame of the thing is up (build for 2x4s and 2x5s) and covered in thick black plastic to keep the weather off. Recently had a baby so it's a very...

Bandsaw advice - anyone got an Axminster AT2552B?

Hi all, Anyone got a AT2552B? Seems to get pretty good reviews, but wondered if it's a bit under powered at 750w? https://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-t ... sel=105096 Would be using it for wood - including oak. Maybe the odd bit of aluminium (with the correct blade). The other option would...

How do I treat a kids workbench that will be kept outside?

Yeah, i'm sure the little darlings will make my lovely work look very tired in short order! Will investigate that Le Tonkinois stuff - how easy is it to matt? A glossy work bench will look weird!

Great thanks - would you recommend any particularly - presume that strategy provides no 'protection' against wear?

How do I treat a kids workbench that will be kept outside?

I’ve just knocked up a workbench for my wife who’s a reception teacher – apparently teaching wood work in early years is a thing – which is great! The bench will be kept outside the school but under cover (think a big overhang outside a classroom) – the grounds not level so it’ll be on...
