    Vac advice

Plenty of options. Would recommend using a bag though as it prolongs the life of the filter. Do not recommend using compressed air to clean filter as this can damage it.

    Vac advice

I use a Festool vac (bought one used). Great vac, long hose. Downside - the bags are expensive. Before that I bought a cheap Karcher vac and quickly realized that, even with the filter, it still blew out as much dust as it took in. I asked Karcher what this was rated for (filter type) and they...

    Glue Bot

I have the "normal" size and I've had no issues. I do replace the red rubber cap each time and store the glue in +10C. I've had a lot more issues with the Titebond bottles. The tip gets stuck every time.

York Woodwork vice - hard to open

Hi, so I have (a while back) made a Sellars style bench and installed a York vice (not much else is available in Norway). This has been bothering me, again a while now, and I have decided to remedy it. The quick release works nicely, always has but trying to pull it open is a struggle. I have...

    Jet DC1100 NVR

I'll ask some of the guys at my work, there are some sparkies there. Its not that I am not comfortable, its just that the rules in Norway regarding rewiring or even putting in wiring is very strict. You are barely allowed to plug in the kettle. The cost is ridiculous, i.e. we had a new...

    Jet DC1100 NVR

Maybe should have been a bit more specific, its the fancy vortex one. DC1100VX-CK or something. It has a KJD12 switch installed, along with large capacitor and some other doo-hicky installed (I did open to take a look). Like I said I did test it, holding the button in and using the remote...

    Jet DC1100 NVR

So I have a Jet DC1100 dust collector, and as it has a motor of a certain output it has an NVR installed. Why oh why put one on a dust collector? Saws..sure, routertable...sure. Anyway, I am no electrician so I am not about to rewire anything. However, I tested out simply taping the "ON"...

    Bandsaw setup

Ah cheers, the manual that i got with the saw fell apart as it hit the ground. I have later found that the US manual is much much better than the one I got. I got it from the local dealer here in Norway, but the saw is labelled IGM (they have a serious selection of kit in their online shop)...

    Bandsaw setup

Laguna 1412. I couldn't see any grub screws. If I am going to fix it I think I need to remove the table from the trunions and shim it, but if I move the blade back to the "normal" position on the wheel then its true. It cuts straight I think. As I am new to the bandsaw I'm quite sure what the...

    Bandsaw setup

So I took delivery of my first bandsaw, assembled and installed a blade. Adjusted table to blade (90 degrees on blade). Drift on fence etc etc. I set the wheel to place the gullet in the center of the wheel (i.e. Snodgrass method), this causes the blade to be not 90 degrees when I measure from...

    Bandsaw blades

Cheers for the tips. Had a chat with Axi (outstanding customer service!), the back order button is not working, but they informed me that if I send an email then they will place then on order for me. Roughly 1 week production. Will still try and source locally.

    Bandsaw blades

So I am waiting on delivery of a Laguna 1412 from my local supplier i Norway in early September. The Laguna 1412 can take blades from 2914-2946 mm according to the manual. I have read (here) that Tuffsaw is the place to go for blades, unfortunately due to Covid-19 (and then possibly Brexit)...

    Narex chisels

When I am doing some chiseling work (especially on some harder woods) I have the sharpening board on my bench (some what like Sellers). It has the usual angles with blocks (25 deg and 30 deg) and I use the LN honing guide. I am not yet to comfortable doing freehand sharpening and the few...

    Narex chisels

I while back I purchased a small set of Narex Chisels for making a workbench (needed something I could whack with a mallet) and then later on dovetailing etc. Sharpening was fairly straight forward, flattening the back took some work on the diamond stones. For chopping out mortises they were...
