    3 phase machine wiring

I mean no disrespect to anyone here, but rather than try things at random I would try to find out by measurement why the fuse is blowing. IMO the best way of doing that is by getting an electrician to take a look - if you don't have the knowledge or tools to do that of course.

Oil or grease on radial arm saw moving parts

Before you oil the rollers, feel and clean the track they run on. Whenever my saw feels rough it's because the track is covered in crud or dust. I never oil or lubricate the track or rollers and haven't in well over 30 years. The top rubber dust chute sometimes needs adjusting so waste is...

    Replacement CXS drill

I see I could get a TXS from Screwfix. I've looked at one of the Bosch Flexclick 12v drivers but the nose seems quite fat. Getting into some cabinet corners looks harder even with the edge adaptor, it makes it a much longer package. So despite the brushless siren call and the higher speed for...

    Replacement CXS drill

Well, it's finally happened. My old much loved CXS drill has finally died after many years. I'm not sure if it was the drop from the 3rd floor onto concrete that did it, but after it bounced over a low wall it fell spinning for another 60ft into a car park. Chuck nowhere to be found, shaft...

    Thanks for that.

Who knows how to fix oak wall panelling?

Nice. Looks you've applied them to a new frame as I'd intended. Now it seems there's some marital dissension erm discussion about whether they BOTH want the panelling! :D I'd still like to see the panels if we go down even if they decide against it. Might be some other nice stuff in the barn...

For Sale DeWalt 1501 Radial Arm Saw

This saw is in good condition, full working order, and has been little used at home since shortly after buying as I setup a full workshop elsewhere. There's some mild staining of the MDF table top. Still the original but designed to be replaceable. I'm looking for around £250, buyer collects...

    Small Compressor

Why is that? Perhaps for manufacturing but surely not for repair work in a home garage? I'm in the same boat but have separated nailers & blowdown from spraying. Nailers for non production work use very little air, spraying however needs substantial real-world delivery capacity - ignore the...

    Best router table

    Oops - me too!

    Best router table

I considered the Incra fence but feel the orientation was backwards to what I was used to and projected much further into the workshop. I wanted a wider area of stock support. People have incorporated that fence into their workbench with a router which looks to be a very good option. giving the...

    Clamp recommendations

600mm Bessey KREs span more than 600mm. I used 20 of them recently on 615mm frames. Near their max though. Also not compact or lightweight, flippin' heavy in fact! But very strong, only suffering very minor bowing when fully torqued up. And as said they can sometimes be contrary when trying to...

    Best router table

Like Hornbeam I recently bought a complete Jessem table from wwworkshop. I've made many over the last nearly 50 years. Everything from a sheet of chipboard and 1/2in router with an oak batten for a fence, to a nice cabinet with a decent fence, and culminating in the Jessem table setup. I...

Who knows how to fix oak wall panelling?

Thanks for the advice, it'll have to wait until I get an invite down there. Not sure where we stand at the moment, we would normally stay a few days but what with Covid etc who knows. I'll take some lights and a camera if I get a chance to inspect. Steve

How to tension a Kity 613 bandsaw

Thought I'd just go and look at my bandsaw. Top wheel has the 3/8in blade with teeth overhung as normal, but bottom wheel:- a) is covered in aluminium swarf from abut 5 years ago and never properly cleaned off! b) has blade running just inside the tyre edge So since it cuts just fine, and...
