Many thanks Burt, you have been very helpful. I think I know what's best for my applications now and will most certainly be ordering. I like the idea of extra rails around the bench, opens up a whole load of options.
Thanks Burt.

Hi Burt.
It's great to have someone reply from across the pond :) Although most guys on here use it for sheet material, that won't neccesary be the case with me, I would need it for small work more than large panel work, hence my interest in the bridge system. I had noticed on the eurekazone...
Thanks for that Dave. I don't think i'd really need the ability to rip 8' sheets lengthwise so as you say I could save a bit there. I'm really looking at it to replace my saw table. Bearing in mind it'll cost £400 to £500 for a decent saw table I think the price seems pretty good. I am...
Hi all, am in need of some advice here. Currently I have my circular saw mounted under a triton saw table (not the workcentre 2000, it's just their saw table). This was ok to start with but it doesn't have a standard mitre slot so i can't upgrade to a quality mitre fence and the rip fence is...
Thanks everyone for your advice, looks like i'll be going with the low angle jointer, but now I have to decide on the LN or LV  I guess I'll have to get to a show and try them both.
Thanks again
Darren
Yes, as well as recessing them back from the front face, I was thinking that i'd also leave an open space between the underside of the bench top and the top of the drawer unit. This would allow dogs to protrude.
I am in need of a larger size plane for flattening and smoothing boards. I think i am going to go with the LN range, having heard so many good points about them. Question is which one would best suit my needs as I am a hobby woodworker still learning the fine art of planing but getting better...
Thanks for that Paul, some pics would be great. My thoughts on it were to perhaps laminate two 18mm MDF boards to give a rock solid 36mm thick bench top. I'd need it to be thick as I'd like overhangs on either end to accomodate a tail vice at one end and a front vice at the other. I like...
Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't intending getting a planer/thicknesser, at least not yet but i am certainly looking at quality hand planes. Currently I only have an old Rolson no4 bench plane that was given to me by my dad a number of years ago and he'd had it a long time. I have...
Hi all, new to the forum and a hobby woodworker. I have recently converted my garage to a workshop and am in the process of designing a quality workbench complete with front vice and tail vice. The problem I have is obtaining timber for the bench top. I have found two online companies that...
