    Planing really thin stuff

    When I've had to size multiple pieces of very small stock I've cut a shallow stopped groove in a large block of scrap with a chisel. Make the groove a snug fit for the width of the stock, and use a block plane to smooth the pieces held in the block.

    Good advice that I wasn't quite expecting

    You only have so many bends in you, don't use them up too fast! That's what my son chided me with when I was learning to throw axes. If I didn't miss, I didn't have to bend over and pick the ones on the ground.
