heaters (radiant electric, wall mounted) for workshop

Ruby red halogen heater 1.3kW here: http://www.mgdonline.co.uk/products/hea ... heater.php I hope this will solve the problem of the uninsulated garage. Probably need 2 of them pointing at me from opposite sides. Not cheap but much cheaper than insulating the garage in this case.

heaters (radiant electric, wall mounted) for workshop

Thanks fellows! useful links. As made clear I am not insulating the garage, so of course any heat will go right out, which is why i only want to use radiant heat to heat myself, and not the air. It would be impossible to heat and would cost a fortune. olddogsleeping your link led to a good...

heaters (radiant electric, wall mounted) for workshop

Has anyone got experience of wall mounted radiant electric heaters for use in workshops? First of all the reason for not wanting to use convector or blower heaters is that they heat the air and if the workshop is not insulated the heat goes through the walls. Radiant heating heats the person...

    Purchasing a self assemble workshop

Nothing that I advised about insulation was intended to be 'gloom'. only the user can decide how much time he intends to spend in his workshop and this will be the main criterion for deciding whether to insulate. Thanks everybody, so far. Eric you say a couple of coats...... of what? are we talking varnish or lacquer? I have only brushing capability. Matt; good name for this topic-I'll probably get a quote from a pro and let them strip the cabinets as well. Doubt if I can do justice to it. I plan...

    Re-finishing solid walnut studio loudspeakers

These are Spendor BC1 speakers, English made, late 70s, and I need to strip and re-finish the cabinets, as the speakers are fairly valuable. I have enough experience to strip the old lacquer /varnish to bare wood, but am not sure whether any finish I can apply in my garage will be good enough...

Inserting marble into a table top?

I hate to pour water but no matter how you make the recess the wood must move with moisture change, the marble will not, and so there will either be gaps at the edges or a split in the wood, unless you are very lucky. I don't think it's a good idea to do this. you can get away with it in a...
