    Hand plane recommendation

If it is at all possible for you to use a propely set up plane before you buy one, I would strongly recommend you do so. If you can try out a plane from Clifton, Lie-Nielsen or Veritas you should. There are a lot of new planes out there that are complete rubbish, and some of them have famous...

Axminster Forstner bit set: any experience?

In general I would steer clear of sets, I've just bought the size I needed as and when. I recently got a 20 mm bit by Famag (Famag 1622 Bormax) to replace a bit I overheated and ruined. Not cheap but the Famag cuts very well, good crisp holes.

    Rip-offs

In HexusOdys posted "I lost an arm and a leg to a table saw" he bemoans the rip-off on pricing in the UK. We all know this goes on, I wondered what experiences other forum members have with tool purchases. One of my first experiences of tool rip-off came some years ago; I wanted to get some...

Could you cope without a Table Saw?

Simple, No. Ripping, initial dimensioning; I cannot imagine having to all that by hand.

    Shed roof felt

Last time I bought some, the various felts were labelled with their life expectancy, obviously get the longest. Also it’s the ridge that gets most damage over time so make sure you double up over the ridge.

    Waterstones

I recently bought a set of waterstones from Tools From Japan, the Sigma Power ceramic 1000-6000-13000 special set. I had a bit of an accident with my previous King stones ( I dropped 2 of them ******!) any way I came across Tools from Japan and ordered this set. I am really impressed, both by...

It reads like a classic textbook example of how to spot a scam. Everything about it says scam.
