    Bending a silver steel rod?

I'm not sure that SS is Air Hardening. Most tool steels are alloyed to prevent departure from the tempered state when heated above it.

Bitumastic or asphalt flooring and/or cheaper options

Will the hydrocarbons in the asphalt affect the polystyrene if the two are in close contact?

    Wanted lathe sharping

It's not the grinder that makes chisel tips to overheat; it's the person holding the chisel!

    Setting up a plane

The 3rd pic in your OP shows a bright line on the back of the blade edge. Have you put a second bevel on the blade back? The 7th and 8th pics show wood that has not been cut, wrapped over the edge of the blade. I think that you need to check your method of sharpening, as there is only one way...

Kinda spire nut to go over ply?

It's just occurred to me: I worked for Ford for years, and as well as model specific Parts books and fiches, there was a "Hardware Book" that listed all the nuts, bolts, screws, trim clips, brackets, washers etc., that were common across the Company's products. I'm sure that they will still...

Kinda spire nut to go over ply?

"Spire nuts" are the ones that are slid onto the edge of sheet metal. There are 'captive nuts' that are used on aircraft which are a plate with 2 holes for for bolting, riveting, or screwing to the frame, and a threaded central nut that is used to bolt on the cover.

    Acrylic paint troubles - help

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

Yes. and the 25 pence increase I received when I was 80 doesn't buy enough butter to cover even a scraggy parsnip! (Not that I would ever again try to eat one; I think that they are the most foul-tasting food that I've ever tried!).

    Which sucker to go for?

I bought mine in 1987. By G*d has that paid for itself over the years!

    Anyone handy with plaster?

I've never seen a plasterer using PVA on original work, or on the whole load of repair and patching jobs I had done in my first two homes. It was explained to me that 'suction' kept the plaster on the wall better than an adhesive, even when they were doing in-situ fibrous work.

    Riving knife thickness

I really don't want to be negative, but, on another group, some time back, there was a lot of discussion about riving knives of the same pattern as yours. Apparently, a riving knife of that style was accidentally knocked onto the running blade, and was dragged from under the securing bolts and...

Drill press for cutting 16mm holes

Just grind off the bigger diameters: you only really need the 16mm cutting edge.
