    Help: converting 230V (1ph) 50Hz machines to run on 220V (1ph) 60Hz supply

Thanks, this is definitely worth considering if the existing motors won’t run (well) on the 60Hz supply.

    Help: converting 230V (1ph) 50Hz machines to run on 220V (1ph) 60Hz supply

Hi Pete, I spoke to the boss of Holzprofi France (who sell the machines, manufactured in Taiwan). He said they would probably run fine but that the higher frequency might reduce the lifespan of the motors. As far as I know the machines are only sold in the European market so Holzprofi don’t...

    Help: converting 230V (1ph) 50Hz machines to run on 220V (1ph) 60Hz supply

Hi Spectric, thanks for your reply. I have 3 large machines (PT, bandsaw, cyclonic extractor). All single phase induction motors. The PT is 3kW, bandsaw and extractor both 1.5kW I think. Timescale in Brazil: 2-3 years for sure, possibly 5-6 years if things work out. We live in French Guiana...

I don’t put full faith it what they say. That’s why I’m here asking for well informed opinion.

    Help: converting 230V (1ph) 50Hz machines to run on 220V (1ph) 60Hz supply

We're moving to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, in a few months. The power supply there is 220V 60Hz. All my handheld power tools, with universal motors, should be fine as they are rated for 50-60Hz supply. But I don't know what to do with my larger machines (combined planer-thicknesser...

Rip blade to fit Bosch GKT 55?

I have the same saw and use this 24 tooth TCT Freud blade for ripping solid wood. The kerf thickness is 1.7mm. But the teeth are thicker than the blade (not sure exactly what the blade thickness is). Anyway it works really well, no issues installing or locking it and very happy with the...

    UK power sockets outside UK

I’ve not read the whole thread so apologies if this isn’t relevant or has already been posted. I live in France (French Guiana) and my power tools are all UK bought. Rather than change the plugs on the tools, I bought a few of these heavy duty 4 gang adaptors from Tough Leads. They’ve worked...

    Narrow tct bandsaw blades?

I bought one of these: XCut HW20-6 from the German supplier. 3/4 inch, variable pitch, carbide teeth. Recommended for resawing veneers etc. Not cheap (~€90 for the 3330mm blade required for my saw). I haven’t used it much because I couldn’t get it to cut true. I normally use a Tuffsaws M42...

Found Hammer n4400 or Felder FB510

Why just those makes / models in particular? IMO it is worth considering the SCM Formula 440S or it’s bigger siblings. Made by Centauro in Italy.

Out of interest, what is the machine that you are restoring?

    Record Power 350 sabre

True. Still, if the Sabre 350 is “well over €2000” as the OP said then it’s still not a bad price. I’d take the Minimax every time.
