Had a change of mind!
Hasn't arrived yet (due today) but negatives are starting to mount up (I know it's cheap but...)
Keep looking at the max depth of cut :( Track incompatability :( etc. etc.
I'll be banging it in for return without opening
Decided to go with this...

(Yeah I know it's probably pushing the 'buy dung, get dung' envelope but I have the dilemma of needing one, but only quite rarely!)
If you have one (go on...admit it!) what the hell are the dimensions of that track??? (think it's 100mm wide)
I...
What a wonderful forum this is!
Don't think I've ever come across such helpful and generous people (but then again I don't get out much ;))
From all that's been said I don't think I'll go far wrong with a 2.6M section of 50mmx25mmx3mm......legs bolted either end (can't weld it up AND get it in...
Thanks fellas (apologies if any of you are ladies!).....the difficulties in creating an arc (in the steel) are beyond my ken I'm afraid (heating it would lose it's temper....and probably mine as well) but it's a great idea and one that would surely work.
The laminate ply also has...
Thanks Mike (you're most probably right about the 2x1)
In your last statement do you mean a steel support that angles back from the mid section to the wall? I have me knees to consider! ;)
Cheers
.....does anyone know if a 2.6 metre 50mmx50mmx3mm steel box section will sag in the middle (under moderate pressure)?
I should explain....I'm gonna install a 3 metre wide (I know, too much stuff) by 800mm deep PC desk/bench made from two pieces of high density (?) 1.5Mx800mmx25mm chipboard...
Hey thanks Tugalis....yup, saw those links already but thx anyway!
Just recently bought a Record Power bench grinder for sharpening some woodturning chisels...and well....I hope I don't sound too 'picky' but it don't blow my socks off as such :(
Sure it does the job but there was a little...
Nobody seems to have any knowledge of that Makita?
On spec it beats the Axminster saw....rack and pinion table adjustment, more powerful motor, integrated wheel kit on stand to name a few.....it looks a really nice saw for the price (oh, and it's £40 cheaper).
I mostly cut 10 -25mm softwood...
Avoid like the plague! Had three last year...they all went back. Complete and utter rubbish (look elsewhere on this forum)....rubbish like this should be illegal.
I'm sorry but I also think your expectations regarding depth of cut plus re-sawing are wildly over ambitious :(
Hope this isn't too late.
Woodfarmer has my sympathy!! I too made the grave mistake of purchasing (or trying to purchase) a 'Fox' F28-186 bandsaw (approx. £300) from Poolewood early last year. Never again!
I was forced to reject the three that were delivered....they were absolute rubbish. Everything from broken parts to...
