    Repairing Summerhouse Doors

I've done something similar in the past, but it was only one rotten patch to an otherwise good door. The half lap type joint is better than the butt joint IMHO, (Actually more of a Z type joint) as it gives more surface area for the glue. I would also use several glued dowels, and screws to...

    Middle of Lidl

Full disclosure - I haven't got, or looked at the Tracksaw you have. However - if you look at the FESTOOL website, they give some tips on lining up the tracks. Basically - put the saw on the track across the join - so the saw is aligning the tracks - then do up the connector grub screws. That...

    Wanted Router table

If you want a cheap thing, I've got a performance power table (NVR Etc) that could do with tidying up. Table surface isn't pristine!! I'm clearing space - so it's going cheap - how about £30? Collection from BS37 8QN if you're interested.

Buying a machine on eBay sight unseen with pallet delivery

Regarding the working condition question - if they already said it is, they aren't really going to respond differently are they? You might reasonably ask for a specific photo to prove they have the actual machine - so trying to reduce the risk of scamming by them picking other ads pictures.

Did you buy any cheap tools that surprised you with being actually good?

Lidl pipe cutters for HDPE pipe. Cheap as chips and don't look particularly sturdy, but cut a really clean straight edge.

10mm holes in 8mm mild steel

I asked almost exactly this quetion on a mig-welding forum ;) Mine was actually drilling a 7mm blind hole in an arbor press ram, so I could cut an 8mm screw thread. In summary - drop your drill speed right down (500 RPM?). Drill a small pilot hole (3-4mm sounds right) UNLESS you're using a...

Chip extractor DIY (non) filter bag

I MUST be missing the point. Couldn't you just wash it in a bucket of soapy water, rinse, repeat a coupe of times, then hang it on the line to dry. If necessary leave it to soak for an hour or so first time.....

2nd hand tenon saw - write off or salvageable?

Aha - thank you - so it's still actually triangular - that's what was confusing my poor little brain.

2nd hand tenon saw - write off or salvageable?

Hi @deema , sorry - just dipping in here and haven't had time to read the whole thread(s) yet, so I hope I haven't missed it, but do you have a link to a six cutting edge file please - I don't quite understand the concept. I have just acquired a well worn tenon saw, and can only imagine I'm...

    Shinto Rasps

Bought mine in June 2020 for 19.99 from amazon. Seem to be available in stock for £28 to deliver shortly or. £5 less for a month delay

    Shinto Rasps

I have one - and it's an incredibly simple but effective tool. It's just so simple, but can take a lot of material off very quickly - almost TOO quickly in fact - so make sure you switch to the fine side when appropriate. Mine stays on the rack a lot of the time, but when I need it, I wonder...

    Repairs to butcher's block

My view would be to send it back. You'll look at it everyday- long after the discount is forgotten, and it's going straight on a list of things you end up 'making do' with instead of enjoying.

Whats your favourite penknife or multi tool .

Opinel owner here too. Really simple, robust, lightweight knife that takes a good edge really easily. The other use of the locking ring is to keep the (Very sharp) blade locked in a closed position when loose in one's pocket. ;)
