How to paint an old set of drawers

I did a furniture upcycling course a year or so ago. We used these rollers https://twofussyblokes.com/mini-roller-sleeves/ Brilliant. Can't remember what the nap was but the finish was brilliant. Also used a good furniture paint (not chalk), very pleased with the results.

    Home Lift Installation

Yes they do look cool, saw it on Escape. £40k upwards and I'm not even sure they can fit a decent sized wheelchair.

    Home Lift Installation

A quick note on stairlifts. If you need something to get a wheelchair user to a different floor, you need a wheelchair at each floor. So stairlifts are really only useful for people who have some ambulatory capability.

    Home Lift Installation

@joncooper27 We had a lift installed 2 years ago (wife is a full-time wheelchair user), our 2nd lift (not in the same house). The first lift several years ago was a through-floor platform lift, quite industrial/clinical looking. The cost then was I think around £4000 to go one floor up. As...

I just want a nice METRIC ONLY comination square

Slight tangent but Woodgrafter posted a good little video yesterday about checking your combi squares for accuracy. Interestingly (and it is not a full scientific test) the Starrett was not quite at 45 degrees but was spot on at 90 iirc, the Benchdogs combi was perfect as was the Woodpeckers...

What are these woods like to work with?

I thought Red Grandis is eucalyptus, quite nice to look at and durable?

    Eclisse pocket doors

I had two Eclisse doors, a single and a double, fitted in our last house - my wife is a wheelchair user and we did not have the space for normal doors in those particular places where we used the Eclisse pocket doors. They worked beautifully and I'd buy them again if we needed them. But...

    Containers. Planning permissions?

I’m paying £120 plus VAT here. I’ve not has any issues with storing timber in them, they are one-use with some sort of anti-condensation paint on them. Had one with timber in for nearly three years and everything inside is fine. Not the coldest place in the world -south Oxfordshire- but a decent...

    Rutlands black friday sale

I agree with akirk, I've bought a few things from them including a straight edge and some mobile bases, all good. Service is very good, but they do send a lot of emails!!

Planning to make a 12x24ft workshop in my garden on blocks and seeking feedback on current plan

I've used QuickJack spikes from Shed Base Kits - Plastic Shed Bases | Foundation Solutions. Bit more expensive but work really well, you don't have to do any digging unless you'ver got a lot of height difference in the ground, andvery easy to fit and adjust. You can also look at their standard...

    Teach me about pocket doors

I've had Eclisse pocket doors in our previous house, they worked really well. The problems we had were that the carpenter the main contractor got in had no clue how to fit them. I had to go through the instructions with him. The single door kits are much easier than the double door kits, but...

    Woodworking courses

I can recommend the Sylva Wood School near Didcot, Oxon. Wood School They do a number of 1-day or 2-day courses, plus an eight-week 3-days-a-week introduction to furniture making course - I attended this last year and it was excellent. They also do a 6-month professional course for those wanting...
