Hi All.
First post, so here goes.
I’m interested in finding out about some of the chisels I’ve picked up over the years.
Firstly, a Williamson 1,1/2” bevel edge chisel. 16” overall length. Cannot find any information on this maker.
Second, 1,1/2” Ward and Payne socketed mortice chisel. Unfortunately seems to have been used as a cold chisel. Looking for handle shape so I can remake.
Also various Ward and Linley chisels requiring handle shape ideas. Thank you for any information.

The Williamson chisel has a full address on so was almost certainly made in Sheffield and marked for a retailer to sell as their own brand.
You could probably find their dates of operation by using digitised trade directories at http://specialcollections.le.ac.uk/digi ... 16445coll4 and searching in the London ones. Simon Barley records them as being listed in 1892 so presumably saws survive similarly marked.

I’ve got a 1 1/2” W&P socket mortise chisel:

Not sure if that handle is original but it certainly works well enough.
