Hi Guys,

What would be a reasonably priced combo thicknesser/planer for a newbie woodworker? I was looking at the Scheppach HMS 850 but there are hardly any reviews on it. Are there any other machines out there? I was looking at some in the 150 range, but the jointers were somewhat flimsy, and uneven (like the Titan).

Hi Golibear, possibly not the best section of the forum to post in as it is dedicated to hand tools!
if you've not already purchased something i would say try and find an old kity 636 on the bay. I have an axminster aw106pt which is the same as the record PT260 - Its pretty good for what i do and credit to axminster it came really well tuned out of the box. Can't say i'd recommend anything like titan etc but it all depends on your budget
