a bit of a cross post but needs must

I want to make a Router Sled for thicknessing \ surfacing
hours of googling has brought me to linear bearings
I want a sled to move left \ right & forward \ backwards
I think I am getting into cnc territory but with a standard hand held router and manually moving the router
if anyone can point me in some sort of direction with this it would be appreciated
what to order, where to order, other ideas, plans etc

Steve

Thankyou all

seems I have a bit more research to do as always nothing is cheap..not that I mind too much if it works
I think 8mm would be a bit too flimsy for my needs

Why do you need linear bearings for this? Google 'router thicknessing jig' and look at Images. You'll see many examples of jigs that will do what you need without the cost of linear bearings.

+3, complete over design.
if you are really concerned about it, use HDPE as a surface on both the router base and the sled for low friction bearing surfaces.
