Hi guys I'm going to finish this top with Rustins plastic coating to try and give it a high gloss and a lot of depth. The legs and frame will be difficult to finish with the plastic coating so is it ok to use a wipe on oil finish of some kind or must I finish all the parts the same, thanks,,Paul.

check on some offcuts. yellow the lighter timber which may not be what you want to achieve. If there is any walnut on the frame, it will darken it considerably too.

The legs and frame are Maple and I'm not worried too much about the exact colour they end up, my only real concern is, is it acceptable to use two different finishes on the same project.
