Hi all I have been looking at this European type of hinge and notice screwfix sell them between 35mm and 140mm.
How would I know which to order and why the big difference in length.
Also can you tell me if the hole size needed to mount these is 35mm as this size from what I can gather seems common. Sorry cant post a link to screwfix the site wont let me,thanks john.

Hi John

Confusing ain't it? Even more confusing when Screwstation and the like list items with completely random 'specifications'. In one case they list the hole size (35mm) and in the next it's the length (65mm or whatever). All box shifters are like this - no idea whatsoever what they're selling so no idea what information to give you!

The differing lengths of these hinges is just the start. They also open to different angles, are designed for inset or overlay doors and can also incorporate soft close mechanisms etc etc. I've always used this very helpful online catalogue to find what I need -

and even then I double check with my specialist (such things still exist!) ironmongery dealer that I've got the right item. Having said that if you tell us what you're wanting to do I'm sure one of us can help you. I think you need to post three times before you can put pictures up so reply to me a couple of times and then show us what you're trying to achieve

Cheers, Paul
