Sharpening Stanley 071 router cutters

Hi,

I saw some tantalising references to a jig to help with sharpening these little beggars, but couldn't find the actual article or post. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Funny thing is that I had them beautifully sharpened, but its ages since I've used the router and I can't remember how I did it before.

BugBear's Ultimate Sharpening Jig® is the one that always springs to mind. But I am a lazy so-and-so and tend to do them freehand with the shaft of the cutter hanging over the edge of the stone. BB gets much more eye-popping results though.

Yeah - freehand them - good practice. Just think Zen thoughts.

Alternatively: splash out on Rob Lee's Veritas router plane bit. The larger has a detachable head and Rob produces a wizzy little aluminium stick which turns it into a straight blade for sharpening in a jig.

Hollow grind the bevel face with a Dremel or sandpaper-around-a-dowel, then it is a snap to freehand on a waterstone.
