I have one of the above. I would like to use the motor as a fixed router in a router lift. I have bought Jay Bates (YouTube) plans. Got no idea about sizing motors, just wanted to ask will it work? Has anyone done this? I know I might have a problem with the collet, but not thinking about it until I know if the motor is ok to use.

I’d expect you’ll have a speed issue. Most edge tools cut at a similar edge speed, so a smaller diameter cutter has to spin faster than a large one. Ie a saw blade will rotate much slower than a router cutter. Most routers have a speed controller as a 10mm diameter cutter should be spinning faster than a 30mm diameter cutter.

Yes. My small router is fixed at 28,000 rpm and the big is variable up tp 24,000rpm iirc.
I had a Shopsmith with a router attachment that was a much use as a chocolate kettle as the maximun speed was only something like 6000rpm (again iirc).
