Saw this project in a magazine and just had to give it a go. Used western red cedar for the shell. The turtle head and legs was from some old wood I found in a scrap bin. I think it was a old floorboard and I mean very old.
Problem with the floorboard wood though is that it was very sticky and gummy. Terrible to shape and cut. Kept clogging up my sander. Had to use it though because of the grain, it suited the look of the turtle.

Thanks. I didn’t have a clue what the wood was. So it’s spruce. I will remember that. Won’t be in a rush to use it again though as it was a nightmare lol.
