Thank you! Yeah, I mean, I get it. It's not a look that everyone is going to appreciate, but hey.

Anyway, it looks like you're saying what I was alluding to - build some 'sides' so that you can use drawer runners in the normal way? Am I understanding you right?

As for the handle situation, my other cupboard doors will probably have a round hole instead of a handle, so I might do that.
Yep, that's what I was thinking, a box independent to the unit that you can fix in place after. With careful design you should be able to hide all the waste pipes and have a decent amount of storage.

SLJ - let's see how it looks in the end - please post the pics here (hammer) (hammer) (hammer)

Hi there.

Just in case you're interested - finally got this done. I'm fairly pleased. It's not perfect, as I'm no professional and it was the first time I'd done this kind of thing, but not bad. I'm happy. It was what I envisaged originally, so all good :)

The right hand panel is a bit of a bodge, so I'm going to tweak that later, but it works. Little neodymium magnets at the top.

It's all water resistant as I've used 3 coats of this:

Very good stuff, I have to say. Water based, but very hard finish and nice sheen, plus easy to clean up.

The wife wants an industrial kitchen. I am NOT showing her that! Nice job. Although I might have to revisit the idea but I think I need to build an extension at the same time...

Functional works. If it's functional, it looks good. Apart from goats. Never understood goats
