Hi,

I have recently purchased a coronet minorette machine, very nice, however I notice the headstock bearing seems to get very hot when in use. Wondered if the pulley belt was too tight? Appears to be an oil/grease cup on top, anyone know how this is to be used? Thanks for any advice.

If this is the same design as the Major, then it's a tapered phosphor bronze bearing in the headstock. It could be that it needs slackening slightly but the fact you're querying the oil point sets off alarm bells! You should be oiling this before every use, and periodically whilst in use.
