A bulldog intarsia made from sapele and idigbo wood which I bought a few months back from a hardwood store.

Here’s another one made from wood I got from the same wood store. Bought quite a bit from there as it was a hour and half drive away. Only got offcuts but got some wood that I have never used before. Was happy with what I got and it should keep me going for a while.

On this one I used ash, walnut, sapel, western red cedar and idigbo.

Not done as much in the shed as I would have liked lately as I have been poorly. Feeling a lot better now so hope to get stuck into some more projects soon.

Hi Andy, two beauties there....i have made the Bulldog a while out of Corian and while it was on display as the centre someone knocked it off and as Corian is pretty brittle it broke quite a few pieces off so its now on my workshop wall collecting dust as too damaged to sell.
I love Raccoons, they are VERY clever little critters and there's loads of videos on Youtube of them creeping about including one sitting on a hammock and he cannot get off it lol, I can't make any Raccoon Intarsia's as they only want Scottish wildlife but would like to make one for my wall at home once i catch up on the orders. Hopefully your health probs will improve more as i can understand how frustrating it is when you want to get out in the workshop but health says no.......the warmer weather usually gives me a boost so fingers crossed we get more of it this year. Regarding your wood which colour is the Indigbo as never seen any before?
Cheers and take care
Brian

Ps i remember a time when you used to say "I could never make one of those" about my Intarsias and now you have proved you can not only make them but they are perfect (ya clever sod) lol

Thanks Brian.
The idigbo is the yellowish wood on the raccoon itself.
I had never heard of it but it was cheap enough to try.
It’s a little bit like tulip wood in colour but it has more pronounced grain.

It’s apparently a cheaper version of oak.
I used it on the bulldog but didn’t put any finish on it so it stayed more true to original colour.
