Hi all - newbie here in search of help regarding replacing the bearings on my axminister / jet JWBS-16x bandsaw motor which has given up!

Got bearing at top exposed but not the one behind fan blades. Anybody had to do this? I had my garage mate strip it to this point but can’t seem to find the second bearing. I am not a motor guy so all a bit over my head

Axminister want £650 for a replacement motor & because of the 65mm long shaft I got get an off the shelf replacement.

Any help will be greatly appreciated by this newbie.

Thanks

Normally the other bearing needs the armature to be removed as it is (usually) in a cast socket on the outer web.

Its entirely achievable by a DIY person and not particularly hard to do.

Try having a look at the web site www.owwm.org. Its a an American site but pretty much useable by anyone. Sign in and search for " electric motors bearings" and sit back and be overwhelmed by the volume of responses.

Check a few of the message streams out and you will see bearing replacement is easy to do.

regards
Alan
