Hi all,
I noticed a Facebook post where someone was selling a grinder with honing wheel, and there was a tube of Autosol beside the grinder. I have some but have only used it for polishing household items.
So, is it good for honing chisels etc. and if so, what would be the equivalent in grit size of abrasive paper?

Many thanks.
K

It's good stuff. Often mentioned in sharpening threads, but they can sometimes veer off onto other topics.
Following advice on here from Racers, I smear a little onto some MDF and hone chisels etc on that. No need for power.

When I bought the JET wet stone sharpening system, a tube of solvol was included.

K, think it was DC or Derek in Oz who used it on mdf backing board as final hone. It is fine abrasive (can't remember exact composition) suspended in a 'carrying medium ' to both lubricate and maintain optimal concentration.

Sam.
