I have had similar problems with W10 - in fact with every Windows incarnation since XP, which worked OK for me. The last laptop I bought (about £400) had no OS options , W10 or no deal. I groaned along with it. Then I inherited a an ancient Dell Optiplex desktop and thought I'd have a go with Linux, so did a clean install of Ubuntu. It's now my go-to machine for most stuff. It just works and doesn't nag me. I have no axe to grind (if I did I'd certainly not use a Tormek  ), it depends on what software you need to run, but it's worth a look.
