A while ago I was luck enough to take part in a day Mark Hancock very kindly gave his time to in aid of a children’s cancer charity:

Original Post Here (Was is really that long ago!)

Well, I’ve finally got round to finishing the piece I started on the day under Mark’s patient guidence. There is not much fresh design input from me on this one, it follows a series of pieces Mark pioneered some time ago, but was great fun to turn and challenging to mark out, cut and finish.

Hope you like it.......

Simon

Great job on recreating one of Mark's pieces. I have wanted to have a go at one myself but like many things other projects keep getting in the way

That is very nice. Did you turn it and then cut away the shape?

Looks great, Simon. I can only imagine the level of control and concentration this took!

Yes - turn the ‘cone’ and then turn / hollow the bulb base. Then mark up, cut and (carefully) sand / finish the spiral section.

A really fun and challenging (for me) project and one that SWMBO was very complementary about as it look impressive both to turners and non-turners.
