Timber ID please

Hi,

Can anyone help me identify what timber this is please. Its been used extensively as a display wood (i.e. it isn't painted over, just varnished with a slightly warming colour) in banisters and open tread stairs in a 60s house. Is it larch or douglas fir maybe?

It looks like Douglas fir to me, its available from decent timber merchants, also known as Columbian pine and Oregon pine.
