For Jennings or Irwins you really don't need an auger bit file, nice to have for scotch nose bits I suppose, but they are usually not thin enough to cope with the smallest diameter bits.

I've found that a Bahco 100mm warding file is the most useful for the job, with the edge teeth ground off as Phil mentioned above, it leaves a beautiful finish, is thin enough to get inside the wings of a 1/4" without touching the lead screw and broad enough to make a nice job of the larger sizes.

The slight flex makes it easy to contact the cutting edges without removing material from the middle or the back so it keeps the wings stronger too.
