Hi
Decided to have a go at making a carbide detail tool. Like the one's you can buy for £30.00. Engineer background came in handy on this one. As II wanted to make a detail and a square one I bought a metre of 12mm bright steel square bar off EBay 10.80 got enough for 3 tools. Got the cutter off ukwoodcraftandcarbidechisels for a fiver. Started making it at 1300hrs today when the steel arrived and finished this one at 1545hrs.
It works absolutely great, still have the handle to make from a piece of beech costing 4.69 so the tool as cost me 10.95.

Brilliant timing, I was looking at these last night. Is the recess just straight across? Where the opposite tip meets the tool?

Thanks. I couldn't quite see if you had drilled a hole for the tip or not.

I will have to get some steel and make a set of tools.

Have just finished the second cutter a 14mm square now need to make the handles.
