Exteria finish for wife's display

Hi
I am making a display of various turned mushrooms for the wife. They will be different types of wood and no higher than 200mm, all fitted to the wood piece shown via push fit holes 12mm holes.
Once finished it will be outside during the warmer months. Would like opinions on what could be a easy solution please. The piece shown is about 300 round.

A good quality spar or yacht varnish. You'll get the best ones mail order from a yacht chandler. They're a bit more expensive than B&Q, but good spar varnishes are stuffed with UV inhibitors, that'll help preserve to timber colour.
