I am fitting out someones utility room while they are away on holiday.

I have got to the stage of fitting the oak worktops which they said they wanted to keep quite light coloured. I thought I would try some Osmo top oil as people seem to rave about it, I got the clear matt thinking it wouldn't change the colour much and used it today on the underneath of the worktops, it has darkened them quite a bit, although it was still wet when I left them.

Obviously didn't do my research as now I see there is a version called natural which has some white in it which sounds like what I need.

Has anybody used it, will it leave the tops looking untreated?

Thanks in advance, Doug

Here's Birch with three different Osmo "white" finishes. from left to right

3186, Osmo White Wax Matt. Contains the heaviest amount of white tint. Looks pretty artificial and obscures the grain.

Unfinished strip

3044, Raw Trans Oil, just enough white tint to prevent any yellowing or darkening. Excellent product.

Unfinished strip

3111, White Wax, a compromise between the other two

You can buy sample sachets of Osmo to run your own tests, well worth it with these tinted versions as can they look quite different on different timbers.
