hi all newbie here just did my first box like to share some pics hope you like them.

Nice clean shut lines where the lid meets the body, so you've cracked the tricky bit!

I'd like to see more explanation. What you used, timbers, all of that. It looks fantastic. You shouldn't be so modest. Just a beginner here. Love to know how you achieved that striking pattern.

that "shimmer" in the lid looks like sapele?

Bm to be honest this box was built in a day, as a gift for my Mrs aunt. There was no plan in my head; I had some left over steamed beech and sapele and walnut, from another project. I mitered the corners on the beech and, to straighten the corners, I cut walnut in an 'L' shape and wrapped the corners. I left them long, to form legs, and rebated the lid top and base, and sawed the lid and applied a couple of coats of lacquer.
