A car boot brace with a decent swing 12” in this case, Stanley with red stain/paint badly chipped but the rest is in good condition.
I have scraped the red rubbish off sanded it and built up a few coats of stained danish oil.

Pictures later.

Congrats Pete. Any idea as to age?

Had you somehow not managed to find a 10" up to this point? I thought they were common as muck over there!

I would guess 70s from the red paint, I was wrong about the sweep it’s 14”.

No....

It was this colour, well parts of it where.

Looks like a nice one. A bit of extra oomph would be welcome for augers over 1" say. I'd be interested to hear how it is to use; does the extra sweep feel like quite a reach, needing more concentration to bore straight without a wobble?

I did a quick test with a long 1/2” bit and it seemed fine.
I can’t wait to try it on my expansive bit at full size, I should be able to twist the shaft easily.

That looks in very tidy order, nice one.

Never seen a 14" in the flesh as far as I know.

You can get that colour mixing red paint with a little black.

Its taken about 10 years to find a 14" in the wild, I don't think I have enough time to collect the rest!
It took me 5 years to find a 22mm allen key then on the same car boot I found 2!
