I wonder if anyone here knows of the maker of this table that I have been asked to alter, it seems to have had the top cut down in the past anyway.
My customer has inherited the table so wants to keep it but it is just to big and doesn't really like the wavy edges to much..
So before and after pictures and some shots of the under side giving a bit of history.

That’s an awful lot nicer now, ironically it must have taken them ages to sculpt all those ugly features in

I agree, that's a really good outcome. You've kept what was really special about the piece - the broad top board from an exceptional tree - and toned down the hideous base so it no longer detracts from it.
How fortunate that the new owners had the sense to come to you, rather than getting rid of the table.
 
Nice conversion. Shows how a light touch with the ornamentals is so much more timeless.

What finish did you use?
