I have a large Australian burl on the lathe at the moment, turned to round and balanced. It is 26" x 3" and weighs some 20 kilos. It is a lovely piece of timber but I would like ideas what to turn, wall hanging, platter shallow bowl. Any suggestions.

As you have already said Wall hanging and platter or the other option is just a simple wide rimmed bowl. Keep it simple especially if it is very highly figured

If you are going to keep it, rather than sell, do you have room to display a 26in platter or shallow bowl? If not, then your making a wall hanging

Hadn`t looked at it that way! =D>

Have a look at Martin Saban-Smith's Youtube channel. He's done several really nice ones.
Also Stuart Ferrini, who has posted some of his work on this forum but also has a Youtube channel.
Apologies if I've spelt the names wrong.
