Anyone come up with efficient ways to strip back round bar to clean metal.

I was using wire wheel on a grinder but was curious of anything better.

thanks

Put the bar in an lathe and use a long strip of Emery cloth. There are safe ways to hold it (between thumb and first finger). You could also use a drill press depending on how long the bar is.

Agree with emery cloth with the job in a lathe or pillar drill chuck (pillar drill only good for short lengths of course!), or if you want/need to go the hole hog, the link that Andy T has posted above.

It's not a hard job but can be messy and is certainly rather boring!

Yes, I think sandblasting is prob the right solution.

I may just try the wire wheel again for a bit, as I have new cold patination I am testing.

cheers
Graham
